The idea of building your own website can be daunting, especially if you are not web savvy. It’s a good thing that setting up a website with WordPress is super easy!

Purchase hosting and a domain.

I use Godaddy be cause they have a really easy setup and they make it really easy for me to help my clients.

Sign up for an account if you don’t already have one.

  1. Buy domain and hosting.

You’ll need to purchase two things: a domain name and Managed WordPress hosting. Some domains are more expensive than others, but most of the time, they are around $12 a year. Managed WordPress costs about $5 a month.

2. Set up Managed WordPress.

Go into your hosting panel and select Manage under your hosting account. It will take a minute or so to get your WordPress up and running, and then you will be prompted to create a username and password for your WordPress account. After you login, you will be in your WordPress panel.

3. Install a theme.

Pick a theme that represents what you are trying to build. Some of them are better than others. I like to use Avada because it works well with Woocommerce and has a lot of design options.

4. Attach your domain.

Once your website looks how you want it to, add your domain! You can do this by going into your hosting panel in Godaddy and clicking on your site’s settings. There is a drop down with all your purchased domains and you simply select the one you want and make it the website’s primary domain.

There you go! Running a website doesn’t need to be a scary thing. This is an easy first step into having the website of your dreams.
